Below are a few more pics from Champ's birth. My mom was with me the whole week. She came to Utah on Monday to help move things along after I had been having crazy back labor all Saturday and Sunday (Champ was posterior.) We went to the hospital late Monday night, but I was turned away because I was not progressing fast enough (I was sooo mad.) I had a doctors appointment Tuesday morning and had dilated quite a bit, so we knew Champ would be coming soon. I think I walked the whole of every store in Utah with my mom (Seth went climbing the whole day) until about 6:30 pm when we decided that it was time to go to the hospital. When we got there I found out Dr. Jones was on call and I was so excited. I really wanted Dr. Jones to be my Dr. throughout the whole pregnancy, but he wasn't accepting any new patients at the time so I went with Dr. Smith instead. Anyways, Dr. Jones admitted me, YEAH!! and after no sleep for the past few days I gave up on my hypnobirthing and asked for an epidural. Both Seth and my mom said I was much nicer once I had the epidural, and I have to admit I think they were right. :) Now that I look back on it was actually quite funny. Anyways, they gave me the drugs, I feel asleep and when the nurse woke me up it was almost time to push. I ended up pushing for about 25 minutes and was relieved/overjoyed when they placed him on my chest. He was and still is beautiful!! I guess I was kind of out of it and didn't realize how purple he was and was upset when they took him from me so quickly. However, I am very thankful for the great nurses and doctors who took such good care of Champ when he was in trouble. We feel very blessed to have had such a great staff working that night!! My mom holding Champ at the hospital when he was only a few hours old. We love you mom and are so greatful that you were able to be there with!!
They hooked me up to an IV since I opted for an epidural and all the liquid made me crazy swollen. I can't believe I'm posting this picture, but you can see how swollen I got from just a few hours of being on the IV.
This is a picture of the ice pack they give you to sit on after giving birth. Yep, its a rubber glove filled with ice cubes....talk about uncomfortable.
I have never in my life had "cankles" until after I gave birth!! I was soooo swollen. I weighed significantly more after I gave birth from all the fluid they gave me than I did before I gave birth!!! Talk about depressing!
Here is a picture of my little angle and the cute name card they made him. The nursing staff was amazing!!

Week Seven!!
We went home again and after taking Grant out of the car we noticed that he was sleeping with his hat over his eyes, poor guy. This is also the only picture we have of him from his 7th week, sad! I haven't been taking as many pictures since I've been working, but as a NYR I'm going to start taking a lot more pictures. He is growing so fast and I want to capture every moment!
Week Five
These are my favorite five week pictures of Champ!!! He is sooo cute and I just love him. I love being a mom. Being a mom is the hardest and most fulfilling thing I have ever done!
I started back to work after only being off five weeks and it was extremely hard going back. However, I have a great employer who let me switch to working part time from home. I only have to go to the office on Monday and the rest of the time I work from my home office, its great. Going back to work was a huge change though, instead of sleeping during his nap, I had to learn to work. I miss my nap times!!

One Month!!
The pictures below are when Champ was a month old. Here is a quick summary of Champs first month.
1. He had his first diaper blowout his second day home.
2. We brought him home on Thursday and by Friday afternoon I took him to the doctors because I thought his wee was infected (Seth insisted he be circumcised), but of course it was perfectly fine and I was being an over protective mother.
3. By the second week, I had been peed on three times and pooped on once.
3. By his two week checkup he had gained almost two full pounds over his birth weight.
3. He began smiling at two weeks.
4. He started rolling over at three weeks (front to back). I couldn't believe it! I thought it was an accident so I put him on his tummy again to see if he could duplicate the movement and he did!!
5. He will stand up on his legs for a few seconds if you keep him balanced.
6. For almost a full month I slept on the couch or futon and he slept with me or in his swing.
7. We did everything we said we would never to do keep him happy.
8. We thought he might have colic
9. He wouldn't take a binky
10. He ate every two hours until just this last week.
11. He was awake and alert all the time, he would NOT sleep for anything!! In fact, I got wicked sick from not getting enough sleep.
12. He knows by how you hold him if you are trying to put him to sleep or not.
13. When you hold him he has to be facing out so he can see whats going on otherwise he will cry.
14. He used to hate having his diaper changed, but now he loves it.

This is actually a three week picture, but I'll keep it here anyways. At three weeks Champ would do Power Ranger/karate moves with his arms when ever you laid him down.

Getting ready to go over to the Edwards for Thanksgiving dinner.
This is a classic Champ look! He lifts his eyebrows high and wrinkles his forehead when he sees something interested.
Our family picture when he was one month old. I'm actually surprised they turned out how they did. Seth and I got ready in the car and Champ was being the devil. Hopefully Mindy or Jan will be in town the next time we need our family pictures taken!

Week Three
We had unusually warm weather in November and tried to take advantage of it as often as possible. Seth was great about trying to get me outside everyday so I didn't go insane being in the house all day. My friend Sarah was also good about getting me outside and we would go for walks around the block with our babies at least twice a week. During one of our walks Seth and I ventured to the track, we figured it was about time we took Champ to see his first track. We had a great time jogging around the track with the little guy and telling him old race stories.
Seth at the starting line getting ready to race around the track with Champ.
Champ likes to sleep with one hand on the side of his head like he is modeling!! I just love it!!
I already posted this picture, but Auntie I and her family came to visit us during Champ's third week. We love the Turnages and wish they were closer.
I was messing round with the camera and took this picture of Champ and thought it was so funny because it doesn't look like him at all!

Week Two
We were all by ourselves for most of the second week of Champ's life and he is lucky he's still alive. We didn't realize how hard it is to keep everything up when you have a baby. Our parents were with us the first week and did everything for us, so you can imagine our shock when were all by ourselves and had to do more than eat, sleep and hold and feed Champ. We went home to Grand Junction for the last part of the week though and were once again grateful for the assistance. Champ started smiling the during his second week. It was so much fun to see him smile, although I don't think he really knew what he was doing at that point. This may not look like a true smile, but its actually just poor photography we couldn't get him at the right moment and this was as close as we could get. :)
Champ trying out his gym for the first time. He wasn't too sure of it then, but loves it now.
There he is looking at the mirror above him, isn't he cute!!

Week One and Halloween
The first week home with Champ was crazy! We had a lot of help though, both my parents and Seth's parents came up to see Champ and help where they could. They fed us, cleaned our house, did all our laundry and finished all our little projects that we couldn't get completed in time. I don't think we could have made it without them and we are so grateful they made the trip up! Below are pictures of Champ's first week home and his Halloween.
We had two of our good couple friends and their kids over to carve pumpkins (before we had Champ). We had a great time, but unfortunately didn't take very many pictures because our hands were so gross from the pumpkin guts. But above is a picture of the food, I put dry ice in the drink to make it a spooky potion. :)
Our friend Holly and her 10mth old daughter, Cambria, getting ready to carve pumpkins.
Our friend's little boy, Ammon, playing on the couch and getting ready to decorate his pumpkin.
The back of Champ's Halloween "costume," soo cute!
We had a very low key Halloween. Both Champ and I were exhausted and slept all night while Seth handed out candy. Although we didn't sleep very well because of the door bell, we had crazy trick-or-treaters this year.

Little Champ getting ready to leave the hospital with a binky in his mouth (he hardly ever takes a binky now.) He's so dang cute!!
Abby holding Champ. She loves her cousin and always asks if she can hold him or help rock him to sleep. She says, " Tia, if I wash my hands and put the germ stuff on can I hold baby Champ?"
Seth about to take a nap with little Champ.
My dad holding Grant when he and Abby arrived on Friday.
I guess Seth needed a break from changing diapers and created a money game and was trying to teach Abby about money. They had a great time. I can't wait to see what kind of games he comes up with next.

Visit to Grandma and Grandpa Hejnys
Here are a few pictures of Leann and Grandpa Hejny holding little Champ when we when home to Grand Junction. Champ was only about two weeks old when we ventured out of the house, it was quite the experience. We were very glad we made the trip though, that was the first time Leann met her new nephew.
